1908 - THE DODGE BLOCK FIRE

- Dodge Block Fire -

This is a picture of the Dodge Block Fire which took place in 1908. The building was considered a total loss. The telephone switchboards for the city were located inside. Engineers from Boston were called in to determine if the walls could be utilized to rebuild. The engineers deemed them safe. Several days later during a strong windstorm the walls collapsed. The 2 story building that now houses Citizens bank was then built in it's place.
